Lewis Whiteland is a qualified engineer and designer working in the medium of metal.
His innovative ideas have been seen in the newspapers of Wales, he is also a (nominated) member of "Wales Innovators' Network" a Welsh Assembly led organisation that exists to encourage inventive creativity.
His bright young talent finds expression in myriad forms:
- Wonderfully imaginative items for the home, sculpture, ornament, jewelry and gifts.
- Home and ornament: Delightful beds of elaborate construction with unusual lamps and Gothic candelabra, landscapes.
- His recent pictures - framed wall plaques depicting quiet landscapes in shimmering metalics are both unusual and beautiful.
- Sculpture - life forms, happy people, constructed from found objects.
Strength, youthful vigour and optimism shine through here, as in much of his style, there are also moments of quiet reflection.
Lewis's latest work is his jewelry; these are finely tooled pieces in a modernist style of strength and elegance, high quality minimalist art in a machine age - their qualities appeal to men and women of today while evoking a sense of days gone by at Goodwood... It is in his jewelry that he brings to life his appreciation of 'motoring chic' and hand-crafted, gleaming metals giving beauty to functionality.
Lewis enjoys working in steel and stainless steel, cables and chains, nuts and bolts. He is always experimenting with new materials and directions for his ideas.
He works in design, his speciality is racing bicycles and remote-control cars.
